Mini Vid - I Feel Free
This is the first practical exercise for A2. We each got assigned a track to listen to and to think of a idea for a video for this track. With our ideas we all did a pitch to the others in the small group. We chose 1 idea out of the pitches and planned out the filming for this video to take place.
This task was more for us to learn about the practicalities, challenges of planning, organising, shooting and editing a music video.

Using HD Cameras
Being introduced HD cameras has made the filming and editing so much easier to do compared to the camera's we used in our previous products. Filming is now a lot more efficient as it is easier and faster to setup and film as well as there being no glitches compared to the older cameras. Importing is also massively faster as all you need to do is insert the sd card from the camera into the computer and then you are able to access the files directly from that card. The quality is much more enhanced and the final product is of a much higher standard of quality.

Music Video Day - Pitch Idea
For the re-making of this music video we could do get students to sing parts of the song like what the previous year did. I think this song would be good for this task because it is very upbeat and summery as well as the lyrics being very capable to mouth or sing. Another thing we could do for this video is set up band equipment somewhere (drums, guitar etc) and film us doing that and have transitions between that and the first idea i stated.

Mini Vid Shoot
For our Mini music vid we went to hotel garden next to school, this was an ideal location because of the green grass, trees and a wooden bench overlooking this. We filmed ourselves dancing and being silly to emphasize us being "free," relating to the song of choice. We did this by doing long continuous takes of us doing random things, there was no set plan to what we were going to do for the vid but we knew that we would be dancing and jumping about and then edited to produce a reference to use of drugs for the music video.

Example - Kickstarts (Bar 9 Remix) Music Video Analysis
This video is a short action film about a feud between a man and his girlfriend and a gang.
At the start of this video, There is a panning shot of a man walking with the sun behind him, then cuts to him opening a gate and going through it and round a corner.
This man then goes towards his girlfriends house, knocks, and she lets them in.
A group of masked men then storm in attacking the pair, seeing his girlfriend is in trouble he is able to fight them off, he then realises these men were part of a gang by seeing a tattoo on one of their necks.
They flee the house and just as they do some more men show up, a chase begins but the pair manage to get away safely. They are then spotted again the next day and chased inside a building where they are surrounded. Seeing the men attack his girlfriend the man finds the strength to beat up all the gang members even though he was massively outnumbered.
Editing wise it is simple but very well done; there was layering as well as a variety of different shot types and transitions cleverly orchestrated to produce excellent continuety throughout the video and fight scenes.

Looking At A Past Blog
George Gamble 's Blog:
- Easy to see links at the top for his different channels, including youtube and twitter.
- The whole blog itself is very clear and easy to navigate and read.
- Embeded Youtube link to his final cut at the top of the blog and below that, his magasine advertisement followed by digipack, so all final work is shown clearly at the top of the blog.
- He also has links at the side for certain posts he has done, e.g music video deconstructions, podcasts / vodcasts, practice music videos etc.
A2 Brief
At A2 you produce a portfolio of productions: a promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following three options: a website homepage for the band; a digipak for the album’s release; a magazine advertisement for the digipak. So, that's a music video as your main text, plus two 'ancillary texts' linked to this.
